MIT’s Stackable CityCar

16 Nov

New York’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum will be showing off MIT’s new CityCar, a design conceived by late Media Lab director William Mitchell.

The CityCar is a stackable, rechargeable, dual passenger, golf-cart like vehicle that can be picked up from a charging station and rented with the swipe of a card. Returned cars are stacked and re-charged taking up as little city space as possible. These energy efficient battery-powered cars are expected to get the equivalent of between 150 and 200 miles per gallon of gasoline.
